Welcome to my blog,
My name is Sabrina but I call myself "Candidate Long". I created this blog as basically a journal for my hair progress. I am currently relaxed which I did this year by choice. I was natural for about six or more years. That is a longtime especially since I am in my early twenties. I went natural because I was told its healthier and my hair will grow healthier. What I did learn from this natural quest is that my hair fell out, and eventually I had to cut a lot of it off. This is due to damaged hair that I acquired over time. So, my hair was damaged from relaxers and it became damaged while natural. It was just damaged.
So, from all of this, I realized that being natural or relaxed is not the real big issue. The issue is the care of the hair, from inside out. Stress was the huge factor in my life because of school and that did not help my situation. Poor eating habits was also a problem with me not having the right nutrition in my body to provide a healthy environment for growth. Products in general have also been an issue for me. I never stuck to one thing. If I saw something that worked for someone, I tried it for myself. I guess I was a big product junkie.
In May 2010, I cut my hair probably to neck length and because I never had short hair I bought a wig (short one). I wore wigs for one year and when I relaxed my hair, the following year in June 2011, my hair was almost touching my bra strap. That is when I realized that changing my behavior and habits is important to my hair. I basically stayed away from heat, less stress, protective styling 24/7 and better eating habits. All of this does effect the hair in ways that surprise me. Now that I have seen what my hair can do, I plan on pushing it to its potential.
My ultimate goal is waist length hair. I believe that I can do it. I just need to push myself harder. Many women do it, so by giving my hair some TLC I can reach that goal in no time. My hair is beautiful and this journey is about me finding what works for me. I hope you enjoy my site and find some or even all of my tips helpful to you.
Thanks,
Candidate Long
